Nobody can pull their Credits out early. So people bet what they really think, not what sounds good.
And it pays to be early. The most any one person can put in shrinks as the poll runs: level at the start, then falling away faster and faster until it reaches zero at the close. Early conviction is worth more than a late pile-on, and nobody can wait to see where the crowd is going and then buy the answer.
Every town, county, state and country on the Ark has a forum of its own. Open yours and you see everything your town is talking about, graded by the people who live there. The smaller the room, the more one voice moves it.

We call the engine Lantern. It waits on one number before it runs: enough people citing enough posts. Engineers can read it in full.
